Practice Owners

Dr Surby Matharoo
Principal Dentist - (BDS) (GDC: 71818)

Surby is the principal dentist.

He opened the practice with his wife Sam in January 2003. Surby studied at Liverpool University and qualified in 1996. Following that he worked as a Vocational Dental Practitior for 12 months in the Wirral.

Since qualifying he has held a number of associate posts in Redditch and Coventry and has an interest in the field of Orthodontics, he has held a Clinical Assistants post at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital for 5 years.

Surby works full time and one evening session for those who dont want to be inconvenienced with taking time off work. Surby is very pleased with the growth of his dental practice and now would like to introduce you to his team.

Sam Matharoo
Practice Manager - (BA) Hons

Sam is the Practice Manager. She opened the practice with her husband Surby in January 2003.

Sam graduated at The University of Central England in June 1993 with an honours degree in Business in Finance. She gained a lot of valuable management experience from her previous employment as a Finance Manager at Bournville Village Trust.

Sam manages the staff and ensures that the practice runs smoothly and in accordance with the practice policies and procedures.

Associate Dentists

Dr Zareen Ahmed
GDC: 263737 - BDS (London) 2015

Zareen qualified as a Dentist in 2015. Prior to this she completed a Bachelors in Biochemistry, both at King’s College London.

She now works part-time as a general dentist. Her interests include treating children: helping them acclimatise to the dental setting and providing cosmetic treatment. Zareen enjoys travelling and spending time with her growing family.

Dr Lisa Turner
GDC: 64047 - BDS (London) 1988
MSc (Birmingham) 2016 - Advanced GDP MPDC RCS(Ed) 2017

Lisa qualified from Kings College, London and has worked at the practice since 2004. She has a strong interest in continuing professional development, completing a Master’s degree in General Dental Practice with Distinction at Birmingham University in 2017.

Currently she is an Educational Supervisor at the practice, mentoring dentists in the early stages of their career. To enhance her knowledge of teaching she has completed a PGCert in Medical Education.

She enjoys bringing updated techniques and developments to the practice for the benefit of her patients. Outside of dentistry, her hobbies include tennis, travel and walking.

Dr Kirpal Singh Dhaliwal

Graduating from The University of Manchester in 2005, Dr Dhaliwal soon developed an interest in implantology and cosmetic dentistry from which he went on to complete several post graduate courses.

He has travelled the world to be trained by some of the most renowned implantologists and was awarded a Post Graduate Certification in Implantology from The University of Warwick in 2011. Dr Dhaliwal’s patients respect him for his honesty, informative style and his kind nature.

It is incredibly important to Dr Dhaliwal that all patients are involved in every step of the treatment planning, to ensure that the right choice is made to suit individual needs. Whether the patient needs the most simple or complex treatment to regain their dental health, Dr Dhaliwal will do his utmost to help the patient feel comfortable.

Outside of work Dr Dhaliwal likes to push himself in different types of challenges. These include running the London Marathon and taking part in Triathlons. He has even appeared on television shows Total Wipe-out and Ninja Warrior. All this is balanced with the toughest challenge of all, raising three fast growing children.

Head Receptionist

Zem Mangat
Head Receptionist

Zem joined the practice in 2013 to head our Reception Team. She comes to us with over 30 years of experience within the dental industry.

Zem began as a Dental Nurse in 1990 gaining her National Dental Certificate in 1996 and then went on to gain subsequent qualifications in Oral Health Promotion, and the Advanced Award for Dental Reception and Customer Service.

Zem takes great pride in caring for your patient journey and enjoys finding new ways to excel our practice.

Dental Hygienist/Therapist

Marisia Cole
GDC: 251009 - BSc RDH RDT (Birmingham) 2014

Marisia qualified from the University of Birmingham with a BSc Dental Hygiene and Therapy in 2014. She completed a vocational training year to cement her skills in general practice at Bridge Dental Practice with Dr Matharoo being her trainer and now works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays at the practice.

Previous to this she completed a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology in 2011 at the University of Liverpool. Marisia has a caring nature and prides herself on her ability to make people feel at ease with a friendly and empathetic approach. By keeping up to date with continuous professional development she is able to maintain and build upon knowledge to provide the most appropriate care for each patient.

In her spare time Marisia enjoys travelling, cooking and Latin/ballroom dancing with her husband.

Dental Nurses

Natasha Davies

Natasha started as a Trainee Dental Nurse in 2019. She loves interacting and caring for all patients and supporting the team. She is constantly looking for opportunities to grow as an individual and is enjoys all aspects of her role. Once qualified, Natasha aspires to further her Dental Nurse career with a post qualifications in Radiography and Oral Health. In her spare time,

Natasha enjoys spending time with her family and friends and exploring new places.

Lorna McWhirter

Lorna joined the practice in 2020 as a Trainee Dental Nurse. She enjoys working with all of our clinicians and is keen to learn Dental Reception. Once qualified, Lorna would like to further her studies and work towards a career in Dental Hygiene. She also holds a special interest for Dental Implants and Orthodontics.

Outside of work Lorna enjoys her time travelling and spending time with her friends and family. She also volunteers as a Young Leader in Rainbows for Girl Guiding. This is something she is very passionate about.

Sian Hirons

Sian completed her apprenticeship and qualified as a dental nurse in 2009 here at Bridge Dental Practice. After completing post qualifications including Dental Radiography (2013) and Dental Implant Nursing (2019), she works alongside Dr Dhaliwal co-ordinating and assisting in carrying out Dental Implant Treatments. Also Sian has a lot of involvement in training new nurses who join the practice and nurses who are working towards their dental nurse qualification. In 2013 Sian travelled to Tanzania with the dental charity Bridge2Aid where she completed a 2 week program teaching Medical Officers about cross infection and oral health.

Outside of dentistry Sian is an avid traveller and likes nothing more than visiting the mountains with her snowboard. She also enjoys walking, especially with her pet dog, and anything that involves animals.

Catherine Tarver

Catherine has been working as a Dental nurse since 2013, she qualified in 2015 and has been full time at the practice since 2019. She qualified in dental radiography in 2020 and thoroughly enjoys working as part of the team.

Outside of work Catherine enjoys travelling. She has spent a year working in Australia and several months exploring in south East Asia. She also has a classic camper van that she likes to take for shorter breaks in the UK.
